Blackheads belong to the family of acne vulgaris. These are dark plugs that form in the facial skin usually near or around the nose. Most people believe that blackheads are a product of poor hygiene, but in fact, they are actually formed by excessive oils that have clogged around the bases of your facial skin. Because of the reaction of the hair follicles to light, these plugs darken somehow, hence the name blackheads.
Many companies have come up with methods on how to get rid of blackheads, but science tells that you don’t actually need them. In time, the body will dilute these particles and remove them with no marks whatsoever. But you may opt to have treatment especially if you have some important event to attend and do not want to risk being humiliated.
1. Purchase cleansers over the counter that has exfoliating properties. These solutions are produced in order to dig deep into your facial pores and naturally displace your blackheads. Make sure you wash your face thoroughly with warm water, with or without soap, before rubbing the cleanser into your skin. Then after a few minutes, carefully rinse it all off, making sure no solutions are left overnight.
2. Take time to steam your face. In clinical trials, it has been proven that steaming does not only improve your skin quality but also gets rid of dirt, pimples, and blackheads that got stuck there for a long time. You do not have to visit a spa to get steam treatment. You can do it at home every evening before you go to bed.
To start, boil water and pour it in a large bowl. Wrap your head with a towel and put your face near the steaming water, just about a few inches from it. Let your face linger in there for about 10 to 15 minutes. Doing this regularly will greatly improve your facial skin texture and will free it from unwanted particles.
3. Make it your daily ritual to wash your face. Do it at least 2 times a day, in the morning and in the evening before you hit bed. This is the number one recommended solution on how to get rid of blackheads. Always use warm water when washing to wash away dirt that has been accumulated in the streets. This prevents the build-up of oil around your facial pores which is the main culprit behind blackheads, plus it generally prevents the occurrence of pesky acne and pimples.
When washing, use soap that has no strong chemicals. Most of the time, scented soap contains solutions that can greatly damage and irritate your skin. If you are willing to spend a little money on it, ask a dermatologist for a rare, exfoliating soap sold only on select clinics.
