Things You Need To Know About Bestseller Books.

by Ravi on Nov.04, 2009, under Uncategorized

There aren’t too many things that I can spend money on and not feel guilty about later. I don’t go on shopping sprees at the mall and buy things that I’ll never actually wear. I don’t live a plentiful life with material belongings that I have no need for. But, I do splurge on books. I could possibly spend hours in a bookstore. All I have to do is walk into Borders or Barnes and Noble and see the Bestseller Books aisle and I’m in heaven.

In my opinion, you can never have too many books or read too much. I’veread enough of the bestseller books to be about to advise a particular author to friends and family. Many of my coworkers know that they don’t need to go out and purchase the bestseller books they’re dying to read, if they wait a few weeks they can borrow mine.

I joined the Literary Guild book club years ago and have long since fulfilled my required duty. I love the fact that I can get most of the bestseller books for half the cost of the stores. Granted, I don’t always need to have them in hardback but that’s all the book club offers so that’s what I have scattered all over my house. If a book is worth reading, I can have it read in a weekend. My husband thinks it is ridiculous that I spend so much money on books and have them read within days. He doesn’t
understand that to me, books are an investment.

One thing that I have learned is that bestseller books are not always the best books on the market. I’ve read so many books that were written by new authors or little known authors and they have completely won me over. I’ve passed those books onto coworkers who have also have never heard of the authors. Usually, they will agree that these less known books are much better than the some of the bestseller books that are on the market.

Sometimes, I think that well known author books go straight to the bestseller shelves simply because of who the author is. Is that fair. No. But, that’s the way that market seems to work. Don’t get me wrong, by no means am I condemning the bestseller books that are on the market. I usually purchase books from those shelves knowing that they will be enjoyable. Being a hopeful writer myself, I’m hoping that someday my writings will turn into bestseller books as well. Until then, I will just keep on reading. And passing those books onto the next person.

What will be the situation when you can gain or lose weight at will? Or you can make a man or woman gain weight or lose weight by your will power?

A Lovely Monday Evening Wasted

by Ravi on Aug.19, 2008, under Uncategorized

What a waste of time. Such a lovely Monday evening wasted. Well, atleast it was a Cyber Monday. I had an old 40 GB hard disk that I had bought ages ago lying around in my desk for some time now. I didn’t even know if it has been working or not, or if it contains any good data. Well, when I connected it to my antiquated single core computer at home, I found that it still had a good collection of music, images and porn. Well, Not a waste of time. I just copied the contents to my new 500 GB drive that I had bought recently and decided to install Solaris on this drive to test and find out how it works on my computer. Well, solaris is not for me. I am better with Ubuntu. I should try BSD soon enough and find out how it is for me.

Well. Then I decided to Install Windows on this drive to install some games in it so that I could play when I find time and dont have to bother wine and get into trouble. Installation of Windows was quick enough. Not as quick as ubuntu, but still, was quick. No drivers come with it you see. Everything has to be installed seperately. When the computer booted the first time, did the registration and stuff, it didn’t detect display, audio and the network. I couldnt find the dirvers, and hunting for these drivers on the internt for about 3 hours, I found no luck, and found that my complete evening was wasted, and with that time I could have done so many things creatively.

Commercial software always come with a bug, and though open source comes with bugs too, people are free to fix it themselves and use it, and those fixes can be used free of charge by everyone else as well. People just go after the promotional products that they get from commercial stuff, such as free updates for some time and other stuff, or a free T shirt displaying the product’s commercial logo.

CRT vs LCD

by Ravi on Jul.12, 2008, under Uncategorized

I for some reason still prefer to be using a CRT monitor than an LCD monitor. The clarity and contrast is good, and it is pure direct light that you are seeing on the screen. But to the fact that you cannot get any good clarity on resolutions over 1280×1024 on a crt monitory, you will definitely have to go for an lcd monitor and you cant expect to have any development on the CRT front. Then again, that is old technology. Think about being power conservative. LCD consumes lesser power, and since it is indirect light, it is always easy on eyes, though if it is nto a TFT you will find it difficult in viewing closely at things displayed on them.

Buy.com is the best place to buy many things. Anything that you can think of, you will find it in buy.com, a secure place to shop online, and when you search the site for lcd monitors, you will get a huge number of choices, and you can pick what ever you like.
